If you have clicked onto this site by accident I hope you will spare a few minutes to read about what we do and why we exist.
Soroptimists believe in service to the community.
We are an international organisation and for us the community covers not only our local area from St Austell in Cornwall to Cirencester in Gloucestershire, taking in Jersey and Guernsey on the way, but also the United Kingdom and countries far afield like Nigeria and Sierra Leone. We want to make a difference to the lives of women and young girls and we do this through our Programme Action work. However it is not all work and the strength of the organisation is founded on the friendships which bind us together. |

I am very proud to become President of this Region, especially this year when Jackie Mosedale of SI Yeovil is to become Federation President. I am a founder member of my club which means I have been a Soroptimist for 32 years and it has been a significant part of my life. I have been active at Region for 10 years having been Region Programme Officer and Development Officer. Becoming so closely involved with Programme Action at UK level showed me what influence our organisation can have to improve the lives of women and girls in this country and throughout the world. I have very much enjoyed the travel in this country and overseas that being a Soroptimist has involved. I am married with 3 grown up children; my hobbies are my garden and enjoying the beautiful Cornish countryside with my dogs. |

Many of you will wish to donate towards the efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake. A donation of £2000 has been sent from the SIGBI Emergency relief fund. Please have a look at the home page on the SIGBI site http://soroptimist-gbi.co.uk there are several suggestions on how clubs can help. |
